July was the month, Finca Cortesin, San Roque and La Reserva were the golf locations and Celebrity Pro-Am Classics were the boys.

The boys organising the third and biggest pro-am celebrity golf tournament on the coast, that is. Pro-am Celebrity Golf is win win for everybody concerned, the sponsors, the list of which resembles a directory of businesses on the Costa, the television and sporting celebrities who get three days of great golf and the everyday golfer who gets three days of great golf and the chance to play with and against the celebrities.

Finally and most importantly the events are used to raise money for the Save the Children Charity with whom Celebrity Pro-Am Classics have forged an affiliation. If that were not enough, every player has one chance to hit a hole in one to win the keys to a new Mercedes sports car. This chance occurred on the 10th hole at Finca Cortesin, a hole designed by a comedian. At its narrowest pointthe elevated green is 2 metres wide and that is where the flag is.

Celebrity Pro-Am Classics is definitely here to stay. In just a few months they have created an all-inclusive event that is eagerly anticipated by many golfers. So who was who and who did what in July?

Other prizes awarded were: worst shot of the tournament, presented to Christopher Kershaw, for a spectacular air shot on the 3rd at Finca Cortesin. The worst dressed golfer award was won by Sabi’s own Tiger Woods, the unforgettable Martin Leach. Despite looking like a chess board on Day 1, Rupert the Bear on Day 2 & Little Red Riding hood on Day 3, La Duquesa’s Paul Nash picked up the trophy for the Best Dressed Golfer. Well done Paul and a big thank you.

We would like to thank all our participants, golf professionals, sponsors and celebrities for your continued support in Celebrity Pro Am Classics. A quick mention to Gazza that when attending our golf events, you do need to bring a set of golf clubs and some kind of suitable footwear.
